Banco Sabadell holds a wide network of representation offices in the Americas which are coordinated from its headquarters in Miami. This office has been active since 1993 and has the full international branch licence that allows it to develop private and corporate banking businesses from companies operating either in the United States and another latinamerican countries like Mexico, Brasil, Venezuela and Dominican Republic.

Banco Sabadell’s presence in the United States began in 1988 with the opening of the New York office. Later on, it moved to Miami, where in 1990, it started as a financial subsidiary until it was granted the full international branch license.

Since 2007, Banco Sabadell has developed certain corporate operations in the United States, more specifically in Miami, Florida as follows:

Sabadell United Bank is a financial reference in Florida and the fifth largest bank in the state in terms of assets. It is known as a trusted financial entity with trusted national and international recognizance and appears constantly in the lists of best capitalized banks.

Positioned as one of the first international Banks in the south of Florida, Banco Sabadell is one of the few entities with availability to give service to the local market (companies and professionals), manage and structure Project finance projects for big companies and tend to clients of the International Private Banking.

Furthermore, Banco Sabadell has also a Representation Office in New York, whose activity focuses in seizing structured finance opportunities of infrastructure and renewable energy projects in the United States. Project Mexico

Banco Sabadell holds good knowledge of the Mexican market, given that it has been present since 1991 as a Representation Office in Mexico City and has operated –although indirectly- for fourteen years with a 20% participation with Banco del Bajío. Moreover, Jaime Guardiola, the current CEO for the Group was, in an earlier professional stage, VP and General Manager for BBVA Bancomer in Mexico.

It is with this expertise in the Mexican market, that within the Three Year Plan 2014-2016, focused in Internal transformation, business profitability and Operational internationalization that Banco Sabadell iniciates operations in Mexico with a new branch called SabCapital, Multi-Purpose Financial Corporation. Its focus on specialized financing of projects in energy, infrastructure, tourism, international commerce and public administration.

Having a platform built exclusively for Mexico is the first step in order for SabCapital to become a Universal Bank in 2015. SabCapital allows Banco Sabadell to lead in its internationalization plan and consolidate the Project Finance and Corporate Financing in Mexico City and Monterrey (Nuevo Leon), both cities, core of the main potential market required by SabCapital.
